On September 16, 2006, we had a chance to observe the National Blood Tracking Championship (Bundessiegersuche) in Chorin. There were 17 entries representing best blood tracking dachshunds from all the DTK regions. They were judged in 3 groups by three different teams of judges. John went with the group I and I observed the group II. Of the 17 participants seven received Prize I (three had a score of 100), two received Prize II, two Prize III, and six failed. The winners of the competition were Gitta vom Muehlbuckel (smooth) from group 1 and Helike vom Nonnenschlag (wire) from group III. The best handlers were Erich Thiel (group I), Manfred Wallot (group II) and Horst Gebauer (group III.
