Jolanta Jeanneney > O5/16/2007 Week #9 Even though pups stay outside the house, they are brought to the house for play and socialization. Here they learn how to climb stairs. Yellow female was the best climber. She is 6.75 lbs now.
Jolanta Jeanneney > This is where puppies stay now - in the shed at night, and outside in the fenced yard during day.
Jolanta Jeanneney > To the right there is a swinging door which pups use to go outside. At night the door is blocked.
Jolanta Jeanneney > 05/14/2007 These are pups' new sleeping quarters. There are two houses there, one is heated. They are inside a shed, which is located next to a fenced playground.
Jolanta Jeanneney > 05/14/2007 Pups are 8 weeks old now and they spend a couple hours a day in crates. By the time they go to their new homes they will be used to being confined for few hours at a time.
Jolanta Jeanneney > 05/13/2007 Week #8
Puppies were worked in two groups on this deer liver drag. They really liked the liver at the end of the trail.
Jolanta Jeanneney > 05/13/2007 Week#8
A liver drag was marked by flags. This puppy followed it nicely.
Jolanta Jeanneney > 05/13/2007 Week #8
This deer blood smells really good!
Jolanta Jeanneney > 05/13/2007 Week #8
After following a trail of deer blood, pups took possession of a deer tail. Nobody wanted to let go!
Jolanta Jeanneney > 05/12/2007 Week#8
Puppies were fascinated by the rabbit feeder and the rabbit food.

Jolanta Jeanneney > 05/12/2007 Week #8
In the rabbit nursery; we did not come across any rabbits but it was a good experience for pups to use thir noses and to explore a new place.

Jolanta Jeanneney > 05/12/2007 Week #8
Puppies took a trip to our rabbit nursery and got to use their noses.
Jolanta Jeanneney > 05/08/2007
Puppies responded with enthusiasm, investigated the dead rabbit and followed a short scent trail.
Jolanta Jeanneney > 05/08/2007 Beginning of week #8
We found this rabbit killed in our field and it was a great opportunity to introduce pups to the new scent. John put a string around the rabbit and dragged it on the lawn so pups could follow it. This is a good way to release pups' prey drive.
Jolanta Jeanneney > 05/07/2007
Pups are coming back home from their first great adventure.
Jolanta Jeanneney > 05/07/2007

Jolanta Jeanneney > 04/19/2007 Week #5
This is the first nice day so puppies get to go outside. They still want to nurse but Keena is not cooperating. She jumps on the board we provided for her.
Jolanta Jeanneney > April 17, 2007 - week #5
This was a big day for the pups. They got moved from my office to our tv room and now their whelping box got connected to a large pen filled with wood shavings. Puppies learned very quickly that the whelping box is now their bed and they are supposed to go to bathroom in the shavings. We also placed a crate in the pen and pups will be able to get used to it very quickly.
Jolanta Jeanneney > 04/16/2007 beginning of week#5 Snoozing in a real dog bed!
Jolanta Jeanneney > 04/15/2007 Last day of week #4 Puppies are playing for real. There is a lot of growling and rough play going on in the whelping box.
Jolanta Jeanneney > 04/12/2007 Week #4 Looking adorable!
Jolanta Jeanneney > 04/12/2007 Week #4 Puppies are swtched gradually to solid food - here they try Omas mix od ground chicken/organ meats/bone and veggies.
Jolanta Jeanneney > 04/12/2007 Week #4 First encounter with raw chicken wings. At this point this activity provides play and exercise rather than nourishment for puppies and their bellies.
Jolanta Jeanneney > 04/12/2007 Week #4
Freedom! The whelping box is open and puppies are getting out to explore what is outside.
Jolanta Jeanneney > April 11, 2007 week #4
Jolanta Jeanneney > 04/10/2007 beginning of week#4
We started a gradual weaning - puppies are ready to eat on their own and are interested in this mixture of formula, cottage cheese, yogurt and egg.
Jolanta Jeanneney > 04/10/2007 beginning of week #4
Puppies have to figure out what to do with the full plate!
Jolanta Jeanneney > 04/10/2007 beginning of week #4
Keena sets a a good example and puppies follow.

Jolanta Jeanneney > 04/08/2007 Day #21
Jolanta Jeanneney > o4/08/2007 Day #21 Puppies are 3 weeks old and they can move quite well. They are starting to interact, and are ready for toys.
Jolanta Jeanneney > 04/08/2007 Day #21
Jolanta Jeanneney > 04/08/2007 Day #21 Keena is trying to keep up with the food demand but it is not easy. Pups' teeth have erupted and it is not comfortable for her to let them nurse at will. She still spends a lot of time with the pups and keeps them very clean. She is a true Super Mom!
Jolanta Jeanneney > 04/08/2007 Day #21 Outside the whelping box - puppies are exploring my office.
Jolanta Jeanneney > April 3, 2007 Day #16 Puppies tripled their birth weights! Keena is spending more time outside the box as the pups are turning into little sharks.
Jolanta Jeanneney > 04/01/2007 Day #14 While the whelping box is being cleaned, pups are taking their first steps outside the box.
Jolanta Jeanneney > 04/01/2007 Day #14 Learning to walk is not easy!
Jolanta Jeanneney > )3/31/2007 Pups are 13 days old - they are certainly well nourished!
Jolanta Jeanneney > 03/31/2007 Day #13 Pups' eyes are open but not on this pic.
Jolanta Jeanneney > 03/27/2007 Day #9
Jolanta Jeanneney > 03/27/2007 Day #9
All puppies doubled their weights, which now are:
male blue 755 gr
male green 775 gr
male red 755 gr
male purple 660 gr
female pink 580 gr
female yellow 675 gr

Jolanta Jeanneney > 03/23/2007 Day #5
Puppies are growing like weeds. They are nice and plump; almost all of them are over one pound.
Jolanta Jeanneney > 03/23/2007 Keena is a patient mother and spends almost all the time in the whelping box with her brood.

Even several hour-old pups are pretty mobile and can crawl around the whelping box really well.
Jolanta Jeanneney > 03/19/2007
Puppies have ribbons around their necks so they can be identified from day one. All puppies are wild boar and their weights range from 10.4 oz to 13.2 oz.

Jolanta Jeanneney > 03/17/2007
Even though it is her first litter and Keena is a young mother, she knows right away what to do. Licking pups and stimulating their urination and defecation is her important duty.
Jolanta Jeanneney > 03/19/2007 Seven puppies - 4 boys and 3 girls. Job well done Keena!
Jolanta Jeanneney > 03/19/2007 The whelping day! The first puppy has arrived and is already nursing.
Jolanta Jeanneney > 03/16/2007 Keena's belly is large and we expect quite a few puppies.
Jolanta Jeanneney > March 16 - Keena 3 days before whelping. The second biggest snow storm of the season is starting.
